A small light blinks, endlessly flickering the composition of a fetus. Occasionally, static tears across the image.
The video installation Orb was an approach steeped in possibility, where countless particles of light perpetually presented new possibilities for the fetus.
It was the video equivalent to the fetus’s dream of a body of light, an existence of perpetual possibility. Although each frame of video can only show so much: The fetus’s dream was that it would ultimately be whole.
The space around the womb is also filled with otherworldly beings. With all the world’s scientific advances, can a new beginning be created in the human race?
小さな光が瞬きを繰り返し、胎児の構造を絶えずちらつかせる。ときおり走るノイズが、映像を断ち切るように走る。
ビデオ・インスタレーション《Orb》は、無数の光の粒子が孕む新たなる可能性を、胎児に絶え間なく与える試みとして立ち上げられた。
それはまるで、胎児自らが見る「光の身体」、すなわち永遠に変容し得る存在としての夢を映し出す装置のように、映像の一フレームが映し出せる範囲には限りがあろうとも、胎児の夢はいつかひとつの完全なる姿へと結ばれることを願っている。
子宮をとり巻く空間には、異界の存在たちが潜んでいた。世界がこれほどまでに科学的進歩を遂げた今、人類はあらたな「はじまり」を創造することができるのだろうか、私たちは、この小さな光に込められた無数の可能性に対峙しながら、その問いを投げかけられているのかもしれない。
